Rising to the Public Health challenge: harnessing pharmacy’s potential

The meeting was set up to get a better understanding of how pharmacy can contribute to the public health challenges facing the country. The Group heard from NHS commissioners and public health experts, as well as pharmacists, about what is working locally, why it was working and how to learn from these positive experiences so that every community can benefit from pharmacy-led public health services, not just a few.

APPG plans consultation meeting on policy pledges for pharmacy after General Election

Some good progress has been made in implementing changes and getting more out of pharmacy. But after the next General Election, the incoming government needs to capitalise fully on the profession’s capability. In order to assist that, the All-Party Pharmacy Group will shortly be publishing a set of ‘Policy Pledges.’

This meeting will be a consultation session, to facilitate discussion amongst key stakeholder across the health sector, on the content of those Policy Pledges. The session will be fully interactive, and we ask that guests come armed with ideas on the early steps that need to be taken to maximise the effectiveness of pharmacy in the NHS. Key points raised in the course of the meeting will be taken in to account in the APPG’s ‘Policy Pledges’ document, to be launched in the coming weeks.
